About our Company, Hartley Jewelers

Linda Hartley

I am sort of the “mom” of our creative family at Hartley’s, therefore I am also allowed some bragging rights! We are so fortunate to have such loyal and appreciative customers, who we generally call “friends” that have been using our services since 1967!

At our jewelry store/shop, Rick and I have purposefully attempted to make the design/ repair/heirloom restoration or appraisal process as comfortable and creative as possible with the basic goals we hold dear – integrity, honesty, professionalism and a genuine love for what we all do to achieve these goals.

Rick Hartley

Rick enjoys a long-standing reputation for his unique jewelry designs, extensive knowledge of metals, manufacturing techniques, diamonds and precious gems. His formal education includes studies at the University of Washington, The Gemological Institute of America (GIA,) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts fro the Evergreen State College, where he also taught jewelry design. His beautiful and distinctive work is worn and admired by jewelry enthusiasts throughout the country.

DeAnn

DeAnn earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in metals from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she studied under internationally recognized sculptor jewelers, Rachell Thiewes. Her love of diamonds and colored gemstones is enhanced by her studies at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA.) Her portfolio features designs that reflect both southwest and northwest traditions, often fused with Celtic inspired imagery. DeAnn has been an integral part of our team for over 17 years!

Joyce

Joyce has been with our group for nearly 20 years. She brings to our customers a great insight into the design and manufacturing of custom jewelry including design details and concepts. Joyce also has her GIA Certification in Pearl Grading. Two decades of working continuously with our bench jewelers allows her to provide thoughtful advice regarding a purchase, a repair or an heirloom restoration.

When not at the shop, Joyce enjoys designing pieces for her favorite charities, whether it is something we donate as a store, or personally. Art, music and photography are some of her favorite pastimes.

Margit

Margit brings to Hartley Jewelers a European flair. She was formally trained in Germany at Idar Oberstein, the internationally acclaimed center for the training of jewelers and stonecutters. She served a nearly four year apprenticeship at Schoebel Goldsmith under the tutelage of Master Guenther Shoebel. She is certified by the German Jewelers Guild and worked for the esteemed Hoffman Studio of Jewelry Arts in Bad Kreuznach before joining Hartley Jewelers.

Because of Margit’s nationality, we are able to provide “German” translation at our store. The methodology of her apprenticeship differed significantly from the training in the United States, which allows Margit to approach heirloom restorations so beautifully and proficiently. Margit is definitely a “perfectionist” and we have been incredibly fortunate that she has been part of our team for about 15 years.

Craig

Craig is the fourth generation of his family engaged in the jewelry business. His forty years of experience include formal GIA training, extensive work with diamonds, jewelry design, special projects, evaluations and appraisals, and management at store, district and regional levels. Craig has been with the Hartley team for nearly 15 years.

His professional career assessment:

“How can you call this work when it’s so much fun?”

“This isn’t a job, this is my social life!”

“In this business, I am always helping somebody be good to themselves or someone they care for!”

“Jewelry often represents the way that people feel… I just help people decide what they feel looks like!”

“I have found that people appreciate someone who takes the time to learn about them and what they want, especially when that someone has the knowledge, experience and available resources to make their vision a reality.”
