A New Customer for Life
11 years ago, my husband gave me the most beautiful wedding ring with a diamond that once belonged to his great grandmother. He bought the setting at B** B**** Jeweler and surprised me with the ring. A few years went by and the diamond came loose. So we brought the ring in to B** B***** and they said they can tighten it, but they would have to “send it in.” Which meant, they send it to a jeweler in Seattle via carrier, and it would cost a certain amount of money . I told them the history and heirloom importance of the diamond, and I was not okay with the ring in someone else’s hands and responsibility for over a week. They told me that until the diamond is tightened by their jeweler in Seattle, they would not touch it. If I was to take it somewhere else, it would void the warranty. So… we opted to void the warranty.
I did a Google search for “jeweler” and called around to see who had a jeweler onsite. Hartley Jewelers came up. So I brought my ring in and told my story. The gentleman who helped me looked at my ring and spent less than five minutes tightening the diamond – for no charge! Then he showed me what he did and explained that with the particular setting it would come loose again. He showed me how he could permanently fix it for a nominal cost.
I was so pleasantly surprised at the customer service I received, even though the setting was bought elsewhere. I have since brought my ring in to Hartleys to have the setting fixed to prevent the diamond from coming loose. It’s held for a long time with no problem. As far as the warranty being voided at B** B****, it really doesn’t matter, since I won’t go back there anyway.
I have recommended Hartley Jewelers to anyone who asks. The customer service is great. I really appreciate the help I received and because of the five minutes spent, Hartleys has a new customer for life.
