Hartley Jewelers Teams Up With Photographer To Offer Free Engagement Photo Sessions
Hartley Jewelers has provided couples with memorable wedding jewelry and exemplary customer service for nearly 50 years. Professional photographer Nina Bashaw shoots fantastic engagement portraits for folks about to slip those rings on one another’s fingers. Now the two are partnering up to offer couples the best of both their products.
Couples who purchase wedding jewelry from Hartley Jewelers will now also receive a free photo session with local photographer Bashaw, which includes up to two hours with the photographer at three different locations, where she works meticulously to translate a couple’s relationship into images that show their connection, their love, and their personalities.
The couple will also receive a compact disc with up to 50 edited photos from the session, a “sneak peek” album on Facebook, and a featured post on Bashaw’s blog.
Bashaw has always been interested in photography, and has been shooting weddings, senior portraits, families, and more for three years. Before that, she worked with a professional photographer in her home state of Georgia, shooting primarily weddings.
“Photography has always been a deep passion of mine,” Bashaw says, “even as a child.”
Bashaw comes to view her clients as friends and strives to get to know them on a personal level. “I want them to have the best experience on their wedding day, or at a portrait shoot – whatever they’re hiring me for.” She’s not one to just shoot a few pictures and keep things impersonal.
Part of personalizing each photo session includes letting the couple choose two or three locations in which to be photographed. “A lot of people like going to parks and downtown,” says Bashaw. “If they want to try some out-of-the-box stuff, we can meet prior to the engagement session and talk about that, too.”
Why did Bashaw contact Hartley Jewelers and offer her services to their clients?
“They’re a family- and locally-owned jeweler with a lot of ties to the community,” Bashaw explains. “I knew they would take this partnership seriously as opposed to a corporate jeweler, who may not develop a relationship with their clients and whoever they work with.”
What’s Bashaw’s favorite thing about photographing about-to-be-newlyweds?
“I just think it’s adorable to see two people who are madly in love with each other,” she says. “It’s really an honor to allow them to be vulnerable and let me stand there and take pictures of them – to photograph something that’s really on a very personal level. I feel very honored whenever someone asks me to take their picture.”
In the end, though Hartley Jewelers and Nina Bashaw provide very different services – jewelry and photography – they both try to capture the same thing through their expertise: the story of a couple’s love for one another and a symbol of their life together.
