The Priest’s “Father’s Day” Ring
When I met Fr. Milhton, I had no idea what impact he would have upon my life. I was the church librarian and he was sent to the church for his orientation to America. He was from Colombia, and his office was on the second floor directly above me. As we learned more of each other, he became my “South American son”.
One day I found a sick call box in an antique store. Inside the box was an old priest’s ring in a blue bag. I took it to Hartley’s to see if it could be repaired. They did a wonderful job and later sized it to fit him. Last Christmas I had it engraved with his name and ordination date inside. It is so beautiful! Thank you to everyone who worked on it.
This spring 2012 I found a man’s ring with a cross cut out. I presented it to Fr. Milhton on “Father’s Day” this year and, of course, I took it to Hartley’s to be sized. It is gorgeous and I’ll present it to him on my next visit.
